Mango Sorbet (Print Version)

Vibrant, creamy mango sorbet with fresh lime. A refreshing vegan dessert perfect for hot summer days.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 3 large ripe mangoes (approximately 2 pounds), peeled and diced
02 - 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from 1 medium lime)

→ Sweetener

03 - ½ cup granulated sugar

→ Liquid

04 - ½ cup water

→ Optional

05 - Pinch of salt

# How to Make It:

01 - Combine diced mango, lime juice, sugar, water, and salt (if using) in a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth, stopping to scrape down sides as necessary.
02 - Taste mixture and adjust sweetness or lime acidity according to preference.
03 - Pour puree through fine mesh sieve into clean bowl to remove fibrous pieces for ultra-smooth texture. This step is optional but recommended for premium consistency.
04 - Transfer strained mixture to ice cream maker. Churn following manufacturer guidelines until thickened, typically 20 to 25 minutes. Mixture should achieve creamy, spreadable consistency.
05 - Without ice cream maker: Pour mixture into shallow freezer-safe container. Freeze, stirring vigorously with fork every 30 minutes to break ice crystals. Continue until set and fluffy, approximately 4 hours total.
06 - Scoop into bowls or cones and serve immediately for softest texture. For longer storage, transfer to airtight container and freeze up to 2 weeks.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • No ice cream maker required, though having one makes it even silkier
  • Takes just 15 minutes of active time before the freezer does all the work
  • Vibrant tropical flavor that tastes like sunshine in a bowl
02 -
  • Overripe mangoes actually work better here than underripe ones for maximum sweetness
  • The alcohol trick works wonders for keeping it scoopable straight from the freezer
  • This sorbet freezes quite hard, so always plan that brief softening time
03 -
  • Room temperature mangoes blend more smoothly than cold ones straight from the fridge
  • Chill your blender vessel first if you have time, it helps maintain that vibrant yellow color
